The birthstone for June is Pearl

Pearls, also known the 'Queen of Gems' have been used in jewellery for centuries and before the creation of cultured pearls in the early 1900s, natural pearls were so rare and expensive that they were reserved almost exclusively for the noble and very rich.
Here are some interesting and fun facts regarding Pearls:
• Pearls are the only gemstone to come from a living creature
• Pearls are not always a white colour. They can range from pink to brown or even black
• The world’s most famous pearl is known as La Peregrina, which means “The Incomparable.”
•Every pearl is unique with no two being exactly alike. Each pearl has its own ‘fingerprint’ which refer to all its distinguishing features – bumps, blemishes, miniscule flaws
What are baroque pearls? These pearls are imperfect pearls of irregular shapes and sizes, with dented and uneven surfaces. They often exhibit beautiful lustre and colours. Interestingly, the imperfections aren’t seen as flaws when it comes to baroque pearls. Rather, they are celebrated for their uniqueness. No two baroque pearls will be exactly alike and every piece of jewellery that utilizes baroque pearls showcases something different.
