Engineer III Marvelight Chronometer
Classic cool: Now with a meteorite dial.
When the most unwelcoming terrains are the most alluring, the Engineer III Marvelight Chronometer is the perfect blend of durability, precision and style. This timepiece provides slim comfort cast in hardy 904L stainless steel and darkness-defying luminosity of micro gas tubes. To top it all off, the Marvelight Chronometer is now presented with a Gibeon meteorite dial, featuring a truly one-of-a-kind crystalline pattern. It’s a classic that’s anything but ordinary.
All-around glow, all night long. Striking in daylight, the hour indices truly stand out once the sun goes down. It’s all because of micro gas tube technology. Built from these miniature tubes, the indices shine bright at the first sign of darkness with no charging required, ever. The tubes provide superior brightness that is about 100 times brighter than the conventional luminous paints commonly used in the watch industry. This state-of-the-art Swiss technology used by BALL Watch Company consists in encapsulating H3 gas in glass microtubes. Light energy is released when the H3 molecules strike the internal coloured surface of the tubes.
The revolutionary micro gas lights conquer darkness with a classic colour motif, the hour indices join forces with micro gas tubes on all three hands to deliver an all-around shine that goes all night long.
A dial that is truly unique.
How to make timeless design even more remarkable? Add space rock. Made from Gibeon meteorite, perhaps the most famous in the world, the dial is highly aesthetic and extremely unique. Its intricate crystalline patterns, known as Widmanstätten patterns, were formed over millions of years as the iron and nickel alloys within the meteorite slowly cooled. The resulting material means that no two dials are the same. BALL designers have carefully crafted the dial appearance to showcase these unique patterns while
also ensuring utmost legibility.
A classic that’s anything but ordinary.
The Engineer III Marvelight Chronometer reveals a perfectly balanced design promenading elegance while appearing quite sporty at the same time. The BALL logo, a symbol of precision in accordance with official railroad standards since 1891, has been added on the dial along with the prestigious "Swiss Made" manufacturing origin’s designation and the Chronometer mention as a pledge of accuracy. As a trademark logo on many of the brand’s classic models, the RR (“RailRoad”) monogram stands out delicately at the end of the seconds hand and subtly recalls BALL’s railroad heritage.
904L: ready for the best of the worst.
Machined to perfection, built to endure. Presented in 40mm, the 904L stainless steel case is designed to handle the harshest of environments with equal parts toughness and grace. Perhaps the most unique grade of steel used in watchmaking, 904L features extra amounts of chromium, molybdenum, nickel and copper that enable superior resistance to corrosion, rust and acids. Its beautiful polishing, comfortable fit and larger-than-life performance can be appreciated from the work week to the wilderness.
Precision proven and protected.
The Marvelight Chronometer allows for travel on any road with proven COSC Chronometer precision, designed to endure harsh conditions. This model provides hours, minutes, sweep seconds and a magnified date. Encircled by the BALL’s patented mu-metal shield, the automatic Swiss chronometer caliber withstands magnetic fields to an intensity of 1,000 Gauss. Mu-metal is an alloy of nickel, iron, copper and molybdenum with very high magnetic permeability, enabling it to attract and deviate static or low-frequency magnetic field lines. This ingenious protection device is complemented by the Amortiser® patented anti- shock system that absorbs the energy created by external shock impact. With shock resistance to 5,000Gs and water resistance to 100 meters, the Marvelight Chronometer is ready to venture into the unknown without a hint of hesitation. Today, more than ever, BALL is continuing its journey and asserting its role as a key protagonist in the exploration of modern time and the evolution of watchmaking history.
About BALL Watch Company
BALL Watch Company is a timekeeping pioneer and celebrated manufacturer of quality, precise and reliable timepieces since 1891. The company was literally founded by accident. Following a tragic 1891 Kipton, Ohio head-on train collision, American railroad companies appointed Webster Clay Ball "Chief Time Inspector" to supervise newly synchronized timing protocols. This standardized "railroad time" efficiency originated the popular "Be on the Ball" proverb and inspired the future Swiss Society of Chronometry (COSC) which governs the highest watch timing certification standards today.
